Biography

My interest in digital media technology dates back to the early 1970s, when I first played the "Pong" video game at a department store in New Jersey. Ten years later, I was dabbling in PASCAL programming and using my early 128k Macintosh computer to design and illustrate English club newsletters at college. In my early professional experiences of the late 1980s, I used an ever broadening array of digital systems to execute creative tasks such as pre-press layout, typesetting, illustration, and book publishing. During this time, I also enjoyed my first visits to San Luis Obispo County whereto I relocated in 1990. Upon landing in SLO, I was drawn to the software development industry in which I worked for eleven years. During this time, I continued to extend my skills with UNIX, Windows, and Macintosh environments, developing fluency with office productivity applications, databases, digital video & audio, streaming media, networking, and internet technologies. As my professional roles evolved into management positions, I found myself increasingly removed from the hands-on, creative work that was my true delight. I began searching for a means to happily marry my technical faculties with my creative instincts, and I found ideal creative outlets in the areas of website development and computer-based video/audio post-production. I continue to provide, through NMD, digital media services to businesses, organizations, and individuals. |
